:: Cathia Acton, M.Ed., CEI

Cathia Acton knew exercise would be in her life always when she started teaching aerobics classes to her neighborhood friends at the age of 9. Growing up in an athletic family, she learned the value of incorporating physical activity into your daily life. "The health benefits and stress released from movement are important at any age", states Cathia. Besides playing football with three brothers, Cathia lettered in track, cross-country, basketball and danced on the drill team.

In college, training for competitive fitness competitions, triathlons and teaching exercise classes were a way to cope with the stress of schoolwork. However, it was not until she helped a roommate lose 60 pounds in 6 months for a formal that her passion for helping others reach their goals came more into focus. The amazing implications of diet on the biochemistry of the body caused Cathia to change her major from pre-med. to nutrition/biochemistry.

Shortly after graduating from her beloved University of Texas at Austin, Cathia co-founded a nutrition and fitness-consulting firm. The experience gained from working with a variety of clients of all ages and from all walks of life was priceless, yet troubling. It created in Cathia a number of physiological questions about the implications of obesity/being overweight on women and children. She returned to her alma mater in 1997 for graduate school and conducted research to gain a better understanding concerning the causes of and answers for obesity in women and children.

In 2000, Cathia married her running partner and best friend, Jeromy Acton (an avid marathoner) and began working as a Fitness Director at a local club, and as Fitness Liaison to the hospital and public schools of Mammoth Lakes, California. Her primary goal and passion was to educate families, teachers, and children about the importance of nutrition and physical activity. She also continued personal training and teaching exercise classes, where the consistent commitment of hard work and training were realized on an individual basis, yet just as, if not more, rewarding.

Cathia is now the mother of 2 beautiful children and has continued to work in health and fitness promotion through adult and children classes and personal training.

"I believe anyone can reach their goals", states Cathia. "My desire is to help others be the very best version of themselves and enjoy a quality of life that is as stress-free and pain-free as possible. By encouraging and equipping each individual with the tools to achieve and maintain their goals success is possible!"

Cathia currently resides in the Naperville area. She volunteers at church in the music and children's departments, loves just having fun with family and friends and looks forward to the Naperville Triathlon.
