Eight years ago when my daughter became engaged, I was determined not to wear the traditional mother of the bride frock. Instead, I wanted to wear an elegant strapless gown from a Michigan Ave boutique. As Howie and I worked together I noticed muscle tone and definition in my upper back, arms and chest as well as my core that I thought was gone forever. Guests at my daughter's wedding said I looked more like the bride's sister than mother.
Eight years later and I'm still a loyal client. I am pleased to provide my strong endorsement of Howie's positive attitude, skills and dedication to my health and wellbeing.
Seven years ago, I had the good fortune of meeting Howie Machek. Before I trained with Howie, I had been battling obesity for over fifteen years. I tried every exercise program available without success. My wife me with a gift of personal training sessions with Howie. Thanks to Howie I have lost 100lbs, kept it off, and I am now fit enough to run a 5K. Howie has literally changed my life and the way I view diet and exercise.
I started training with Howie in January of this year. I've never had a structured fitness or diet regimen prior to this. Howie put together a program that worked for me and by May I lost 26LBS and several inches. His energy and motivation is what pushed and still pushes me to achieve my goals. Howie is a hard worker and a caring individual. He is passionate about his work and it shows in his training. I always look forward to our sessions. I couldn't be happier with my results and I look forward to continue training with him as I strive to reach my overall goal. Howie continues to push me to be the best I can be. What a difference Howie has made in my life! As a trainer, Howie is a perfect 10!

I first started Training with Howie in February of 2006. I weighed 155lb at that time. That was the most I had ever weighed. I always worked out, but just never drop any weight on my own. Howie knew when to push me and how hard. I had worked with other trainers in the past and most of the time to the point of overtraining where I was so sore and could hardly walk or move my arms. That has never happened with Howie. I now weigh 130lb and continue to train with Howie. My arms have never been so toned and defined before.
Howie has such a passion for what he does, and it shows. He is very professional, yet compassionate. He also sets a perfect example. He certainly practices what he preaches. This is the best experience I had ever had working out with a personal trainer. It has been money well spent and certainly an investment in my health. I look forward to continuing to work with Howie.

As my milestone birthday approached, I decided to sign up with One Body Fitness. My goals were to tone and lose some extra pounds that decided to stick with me long after the holidays. I had 26% body fat with very little tone and wanted to build muscle and strength. Following the customized nutrition and workout plans, I achieved 17.7% body fat and the lean muscle definition I wanted! I also significantly improved my posture, flexibility and balance. I couldn't be more pleased with my results!
I owe it all to Howie's fitness philosophies as well as my trainer Cathia's expertise, guidance and positive motivation—I truly couldn't have done it without her! Howie and Cathia are true experts in their field and their passion for helping others achieve their fitness goals shows! It is my pleasure to write this recommendation for Howie Machek; My story communicates the importance of having a quality personal trainer helping you with a training program rather than going it alone. During my college years I gained about 20 pounds and hovered around 180 pounds for many years. Later on I gained another 20 pounds and really did not look or feel well. With the encouragement of my wife I started aggressive cardio exercise and lost 10 pounds, but I could not loose any more and decided I need professional help. I took advantage of Howie's free consultation and signed up for 10 sessions on the spot. I knew Howie was a professional because he did not try to sell me any special meals or vitamins or tell me I had to sign up that day to get any "special" discounts. I wish I had kept an exact record of how fast I lost weight, but my recollection is it was 2 pounds per week.
With Howie's help and my wife making sure I followed Howie's meal guidance I lost another 25 pounds. My guess is I gained a _minimum_ of 8 pounds of muscle; if you add that up I lost 33 pounds of fat. I lost that weight and kept it off for two years.
That was my story, here is why I think Howie makes a great personal trainer:
- He really cares about the success of his clients.
- I always felt that I was safe while I was doing the exercise and would not injure myself.
- I felt as though he was anticipating what I was going to do wrong in an exercise and correct me before it was an issue.
- He is always prepared with a written exercise plan.
- He does not engage in idle chit chat; every minute I paid for I was exercising.
- His tailored his program to the equipment that I had in my house so I could do my exercises on my own at home on the days that I did not meet with him.
Three months ago I started a journey on changing my life. I felt I was getting closer to 40 and really wanted to move through the next chapter in my life with some changes. I called One Body on a Saturday afternoon and left a message. I had a return call within an hour of leaving that message, from the owner no less! My phone call with Howie made me feel like he really wanted to meet with me and help me. He didn't try and "Sell" me anything. he listened to me and then we set up a time to meet. I am an old athlete with chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain.
It's been 20 years of Orthopedic Doctors, Neurosurgeons, Chiropractors, Message Therapists, and the Pain Clinic. Howie did not even hesitate to tell me he could set up a program for me. Every session I kept waiting for my back, neck, or shoulders to hurt. They never did! I felt good with every workout. I hadn't worked out in 2 years and Howie was just as excited to get me back on track as I was. I read the One Body Book and carried (carry!) it with me all the time. I made copies of grocery lists and food choices and followed it every day. Howie was available by phone, text, or in person when I was struggling with food choices or cardio questions. He always had great suggestions for me and kept me on track. I always had a support system. He never made me feel bad for anything, only positive feedback with the focus of "Me" and my journey. My goals were discussed every week and not just at the end of each month. Howie was always just as excited as I was when I met or exceeded my goals.
We were/are a team in my journey for "Fit to be 40". The only thing that I did not expect and feel like I am so fortunate with is that Howie is truly an empathetic, kind, funny, and a caring person. He lives and breathes what he does. His passion for One Body and what it represents is reflected in everything he says and does. I couldn't have made it this far without him. For that, I thank him, Andrea, and One Body. I am only at the beginning of my journey and I am looking forward to my next three months at One Body.

P.S. I just want to add one thing. I have done personal training at all levels in my past. From the franchise level of "Fitness Together" to the "Big Gym" trainer. I never felt that they focused on me as a "Whole" person. They never asked me about my diet or cardio routine, even though that was included in my "Personal Training Package". I get that every session with Howie. I am so thankful I found the One Body website three months ago.

I woke up this morning and made my girlfriend take this picture of me. I made it! I followed the principals of my book and did workouts (the same workout's given at One Body) for 5 weeks and transformed my body. I went from 188lbs at about 12% body fat to 171lbs at exactly 7.2 % body fat in 5 weeks.
The first two weeks were very hard, but eventually my body got used to the restricted calories and my food cravings diminished. The hardest part for me were my workouts. As you know food is our energy and with 1,200 calories my energy wasn't always there. But I was determined to keep pressing forward and “muscle “ through the 5 week program.
Even though my body wouldn't let me reach my goal of losing 20lbs I still lost 16lbs and learned a ton in the process! I never wanted to put a book out there and not know every aspect from front to back. I now have lived through this and know what it takes to eat 1,200 calories per day. My next step is to take a week off and just follow my 1,700 calorie maintenance program and then pick up my book again to follow my muscle building program that is also included in the One Body book.
