Vanessa Cruz is a strong athlete. She played varsity basketball and even helped lead their team to a first ever Elite 8 State appearance in 2006. She later was recruited to play division 2 college basketball for Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL. It was there that she received a terrible disc injury to her back, ending her basketball career. It was then that Vanessa craved to continue working with fitness.
She discovered the National Personal Training Institute in Lisle, IL. It was here that she pursued her goals in earning a diploma as a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Analyst. Vanessa is determined to help others reach their maximum health and performance by using creative and proper exercise techniques involving much of the core muscles. She knows firsthand that injuries are no joke, so proper technique can't be ignored.
Choosing healthy eating habits is also something Vanessa knows is key in maintaining a happy, healthy lifestyle. Learning these proper steps to a better self, and maintaining it, takes time.
She relates a simple quote from her grandpa to those she trains, “One day at a time. Just make it a good one.” She believes in concentrating on the now, and making the best and healthiest decisions at that point in time. In taking small steps like this she is determined to help her clients achieve, one day at a time.
Before coming to One Body Fitness, Vanessa worked as a Health Club Coach for Innovative Senior Care. It was there she got a unique experience working with numerous types of conditions including Parkinson's disease and Multiple Sclerosis.
Growing up in the small town of Spring Valley, Vanessa has moved to Naperville and loves the outdoors. She is also a head girl's basketball coach out of Wheatland's Athletic Association.
